The Woman King reflects the powerful and dynamic all female military regiment of the Kingdom of Dahomey. The movie is centered around true events which Viola stars as the general who trains the next generation of female warriors to fight their enemies. Whose motto is to kill or be killed. Slave or be enslaved.

The Kingdom of Dahomey is alleged to be one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and the 19th century. Under the influence of their third king, Houegbadja, the women began to truly organize and tap into their power. With his support they established dominance and authority, as any Kingdom shall have. Dohmeny grew its fame from the strong all female military which was completely abnormal in those centuries.
