Texas artist Erica Banks, known for her hit single “Buss It, is not having the best kick off to her week. Friday (August 19th) a video was posted of the 1501 queen twerking in front of teen boys at a Frederick Douglass High School pep rally in Atlanta. Upon the video going viral, people of all nature are speaking on the matter at hand. Some are parents who are furious with her and the school. Most are onlookers who disagree. And others are fans of Erica Banks who think nothing is wrong with the act.

Erica and Frederick Douglass High School are facing backlash that they could have predicted with proper screening. Surprisingly the heavy blame is being placed specifically on the school board. Who booked the artist and agreed to have her perform at the school. Both female and male students were in attendance for the artist performance.Though it was the twerking amongst minors that has the world riled up.

Black Twitter in disagreeance:

“Erica Banks is 23 in a high school twerking directly in front of 15 year olds. She ain’t think that through.” -MykieOkay

“Who approved Erica Banks to perform at a high school?.” -SkinCareBully

“On the latest episode of black Americans are embarrassing…” -diemvouge

“They had fun. She got paid. Nobody was touched. Lighten up.”- Laislutty

“Everyone saying blame the school for booking Erica Banks is slow. We ALL use to love having z list celebrities come perform for us. You edit out any cursing, don’t play nothing too wild and let the kids have age appropriate fun with an artist they love.” -Epicmelonpop

Erica Banks plainfully in unbothered response to the scrutiny via IG commeting “Girl didn’t nobody touched them kids, clearly. We Had a great time, good day.” on The Neighborhood Talk IG page. The debate circling the urban world is what’s normal for kids today. But the real question is, is normal always the right way?
