The talented cast and crew of the inspiring aerial epic, Devotion stunned in their red carpet best for the Los Angeles premiere at Regency Village Theatre on November 15. The event was every bit of a family affair and a profound tribute to the Korean War heroes behind the story, Jesse L. Brown, the first African American Navy aviator, and his devoted wingman, Thomas Hudner, as well as the cast, crew, and those who attended in support. The film’s leading man, Jonathan Majors, was joined by his co-stars Glen Powell, Christina Jackson, Thomas Sadoski, and Joe Jonas. Director J.D. Dillard was also in attendance to celebrate the fruits of their labor.

“This movie, in so many ways, was a family effort,” Dillard said. He proudly introduced all the moving parts that made the film’s creation a success before a packed crowd. “We all moved together like the boys shipping off to war to make this movie.”

Family was the night’s focal point as a few dozen descendants of the film’s historical characters honored the event with their presence. Jesse L. Brown’s granddaughter, Jessica Knight Henry, and Thomas Hudner’s son, Thomas Hudner III, posed for photo ops in front of the legendary Corsair. “It’s overwhelming to share these moments with the families, but there’s no other way to do it,” Dillard expressed. He was accompanied by his father, Bruce Dillard, a trailblazer like Brown, who became the second African American pilot to fly with the Navy’s Blue Angels.

Among the stars at the red carpet event was Michael B. Jordan, who supported his Creed III co-star, Jonathan Majors. The two shared laughs, encouragement, and playful sparring photo ops. Majors expressed his gratitude for the support of his best friend, Sam Jaeger, and Jordan. “It’s so funny because I got to the carpet and I saw Sam Jaeger — he’s my best friend,” Majors said. “Then, right behind him, is Michael B. Jordan. He literally just came in to show some love, give me a hug, take a photo, and now he’s going back to work on our film.” The night was full of love, admiration, inspiration, and gratitude.

The Los Angeles premiere increased our anticipation. The film hits theaters tomorrow November 23.
