‘Bel-Air’ Season 2 Teaser: The Prince Wants Control of His Own Destiny

Grab your bags and your shades! We’re headed back to Bel-Air as Peacock prepares for season 2 of the hit series, derived from the classic sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The streaming service recently released a teaser of what to expect from the 2nd season, leaving viewers excited for another Los Angeles turn-up with our favorite prince. Jabari Banks returns as Will. Also returning are Adrian Holmes as Uncle Phil, Coco Jones as Hilary, Akira Akbar as Ashley, Cassandra Freeman as Aunt Vivian, Olly Sholotan as Carlton, and Akingbola as Geoffrey. Simone Joy Jones will be returning as Lisa and Jordan L. Jones will be returning as Jazz.

Season 1 ended with Will contemplating a difficult decision. Should he stay with his relatives in California or return to West Philadelphia? He opens the teaser by saying, “Life is a series of choices. A world of either this or that.” The teaser shows that the decision still weighs on him in season 2. The rest of the cast will face some tough choices as well. Though it is unclear if the prince will keep his throne or return home, the trailer ends with him affirming, “We all got choices to make, but this time no one chooses for me.” 

The development of this hit 10-episode drama was a team effort, with many of the creators wearing multiple hats. It is directed, co-written, and executive produced by Morgan Cooper. The original Fresh Prince Will Smith is also an executive producer alongside Anthony Sparks, Malcolm Spellman, Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Benny Medina, Quincy Jones, Andy and Susan Borowitz, T.J. Brady, and Rasheed Newson. T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson also served as co-showrunners for the 1st season. 

Season 2 welcomes Carla Banks-Waddles, a writer and executive producer from the 1st season, as the new showrunner. The first three episodes of Bel-Air season 2 premiere on February 23, 2023, on Peacock, with new episodes premiering weekly. Catch up on season 1, which is streaming now.
