Official Trailer: The Buccaneers by Apple TV premieres November 8th

Today, Apple TV+ released the trailer and for “The Buccaneers,” an upcoming eight-episode drama series. The show draws inspiration from the unfinished final novel of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton, also titled “The Buccaneers.” It is created by Katherine Jakeways. “The Buccaneers” is set to have its worldwide premiere on Apple TV+. The first three episodes will be available on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, with subsequent episodes releasing every Wednesday until December 13.

The trailer showcases Olivia Rodrigo’s popular song “all-american bitch” and introduces Miya Folick’s latest single “What We Wanna.” The music-driven series combines the setting of 1870s English aristocracy with a contemporary soundtrack. The soundtrack is produced by Stella Mozgawa, known for her work in the band Warpaint, and features songs from popular female artists such as Taylor Swift, Boygenius, Maggie Rogers, Bikini Kill, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Angel Olsen, Brandi Carlile, and more. Additionally, the series includes original music from Folick, Lucius, Alison Mosshart, Warpaint, Gracie Abrams, Sharon Van Etten, Bully, Danielle Ponder, and others. The series composers AVAWAVES also contribute to the music.

This sparks a clash of cultures between the British, known for their reserved demeanor, and the Americans, who bring a refreshing disregard for long-standing traditions. The buccaneers are not only interested in securing husbands and titles, but they also have greater ambitions. Saying “I do” is just the start of their journey.

“The Buccaneers” features a talented cast including Kristine Frøseth as Nan St. George, Alisha Boe as Conchita Closson, Josie Totah, who received a Critics Choice Award nomination, as Mabel Elmsworth, Aubri Ibrag as Lizzy Elmsworth, and Imogen Waterhouse as Jinny St. George. Christina Hendricks, who won a SAG Award, portrays the character Mrs. St. George in the series. Mia Threapleton takes on the role of Honoria Marable. They are joined by a talented ensemble cast, which includes Josh Dylan as Lord Richard Marable, Guy Remmers as Theo, Duke of Tintagel, Matthew Broome as Guy Thwarte, and Barney Fishwick as Lord James Seadown.

“The Buccaneers” is a television series led by a talented all-female creative team. It is written by Katherine Jakeways, the series creator, and directed by Susanna White, a BAFTA Award winner.
