Are you ready to take self-care night to the next level? No With this DIY Bath Tray with a wine glass holder, you’ll be able to sink right into your warm bath and not have to worry about dropping or spilling your wine.

For this project, you will need:

  • Pine board
  • Your favourite wood stain
  • Waterproof/resistant urethane
  • Router or router table
  • Table saw or circular saw
  • Hammer and nails or nail gun

Step One: Measure Your Tub

Measure your bathtub width. Take the width and add 4 inches. This will allow for a 2 inch overhang on either side.. Take your pine shelf board and cut it down to that width. Then cut it to the proper length (ours was 8″)

Step Two: Create the L-Groove to hold your wine glass

Using a router table, scroll saw, or jig saw cut a  ¼ inch wide grooved “L” into the board. You could use a drill bit and drill a ¼ inch diameter hole at the end and at the 90 deg corner of the “L” to assist in cutting out the “L” shape. This L will be holding your wine glass by the stem, so if your glasses have a wider stem you will need to make a wider groove.

Step Three: Cut and add guides

Cut two 1.25 x 5 inch guides to go on the underside of the board (to prevent the board from sliding off the tub). Attach the guides to the underside of the board. They would be set at ¼ inch smaller than the inside width of the tub. The inside of our tub was 27 inch, so our guides were set at 26.5 inches apart. Use finish nails and glue to attach the guides to the bottom of the board.

Step Four: Sand and Stain

Sand and finish the bath tray to your desired look. I used my favourite dark stain. Then use a waterproof/resistant urethane to finish the bath tray.

Now you will have a bath tray to add an extra amount of enjoyment to your self-care and bath time routine.
