Miami is internationally known for its picturesque skyline views, buzzing art scene, and of course hotspots like Wynwood and South Beach as some of the most sought after nightlife scenes.
What is becoming more apparent to the diaspora outside of this major city is Miami’s deep roots and historical proximity to Caribbean culture via cuisine. There are many Miami natives with stories about how their families and communities were displaced by redlining, segregation, natural disasters, and gentrification just to name a few.
Something they can also provide is a recipe to accompany those stories to serve up something magical.
If you’re looking to connect with this destination city & all it truly has to offer, consider taking a culinary approach with these Miami restaurants when you touch down.
Chef Creole – Chef Creole is led by Chef Ken Sejour and is proud to be known for “the best Haitian seafood in Miami”. This down south staple opened its doors as a nod to Chef Ken’s Haitian and Bahamian roots.
There are multiple locations throughout the city including a restaurant in the Miami International Airport. This branch is also the only one open on Sundays.

During the height of the pandemic in 2020, they partnered with the Miami Dolphins Food Relief Program where they provide meals to those in intentionally marginalized communities.
Reggae Beetz boasts an eclectic selection with something for everyone. They offer smoothies, a 100% vegan and plant based selection and a 100& jerk chicken menu. They also encourage incorporating vegan options into your lifestyle – and remind us that flavor doesn’t have to be sacrificed when making more conscious lifestyle choices.
