Many people dream of going on an exotic vacation but feel it’s out of their reach due to their financial situation. That’s where Douglas Colon the owner of Dancin Doug Travel comes in to save the day. Doug a native of New York who resides in Atlanta, Georgia is here to make your dream vacation come true. Doug has been in business since 2006 named his business Dancin Doug Travel from being one of the original first-generation B-Boys from the Kool Herc era of Hip Hop.
Before Doug started his travel agency business, he was a Special Agent in charge of the U.S office of labor racketeering and retired after 18 years of service. Doug was introduced to the travel business by a friend. “One of the guys I worked with told me I needed to start taking vacation because I was a workaholic and never took vacations,” said Doug. After the conversation with his co-worker Doug decided to take a vacation to Saint Lucia. While on vacation he begins to think about how he could make the vacations pay for themselves.
“So, I came back and a friend of mine who was an agent for social security told me there was this travel opportunity to become travel agents called YTB so I went to a hotel conference, signed up and started doing a couple of trips” said Doug. After doing a couple of trips with this company he wasn’t satisfied with the outcome and started doing trips on his own. Doug went to another travel company, gathered some of his friends he went to high school and college with and did a cruise where he signed up about seventy people Which turned out to be a success.
His second trip was to Mexico where he had signed 120 people due to a scram about the swine flu. Some people were afraid to go to Mexico, so Doug took 80 people to Mexico and sent 20 to the Dominican Republic and 20 to Jamaica. Doug trips got bigger and bigger every year. “I started doing trips overseas to Egypt. I had 500 people sign up. That’s when I realized I could make a lot of money doing this. I was thinking to myself 500 people at 500 dollars that’s $250,000 dollars after that point I was off and running, “said Doug. Doug realized the travel business was a very lucrative business that came with a lot of hard work, but the rewards were high.
From there he began to train people to become agents where they do about six trips a year. These trips take you to places like Bora Bora, Italy, Paris, Brazil, Spain, Africa, China, I’ll just sum it up with all over the world. The good news about Dancin Doug Travel is he makes it affordable for anyone to travel with his layaway payment plan that allows DDT family members to pay for trips over a period of time. Also because of the larger groups the agency affiliations allow them to offer the best prices possible for all events.
