Malcolm is creating a space for an ENSEMBLE of the next generation of artists.

You often hear of people saying find your tribe, so you can find success and support. That’s exactly what Malcolm Goodwin attributes to his beginning and continued success in the entertainment industry.
“Having people believe in me, and my team around me making sure I stick to the things I say I’m going to do.”
Malcolm’s journey is one that was full circle. In high school, he had a love and affinity for acting, and knew that’s where life was going to take him, but afterwards he took a break from it. It wasn’t until several years later that he enrolled in college and studied it. “ I read a monologue for an audition in college that I hadn’t read since the tenth grade,’’ said Goodwin. It was this moment that reminded him truly of what he loved to do and was meant for. It was serendipitous because beyond the love for acting there was a dedication that was always there.
“I took this opportunity because they only selected 24 people and I was one of them.”
This was his moment and he welcomed it with open arms. Malcolm said, “I wanted to see how far I would be able to take it, fail at things, and get things right.” It was the journey and the process in acting he was thrilled for, with the ups and downs which he knew would be part of it. This mentally is what he thinks all actors should take because they never know what they will become and where they will be. “ If you ask me ten years ago, would I have played detectives and the other various roles, I would say, ‘oh no there’s no way at all’,” said Goodwin. This is why he looks forward to only the opportunities that are out there, and not on a rigid path of success that most define within their mind. For him, there are limitless possibilities.
“Every time you fall down isn’t necessarily a failure.”
The interesting thing about Malcolm is that, it isn’t optimism that shines from him but it’s the radiance of enjoying the process of life as it comes. He stands on the merit of knowing that each lesson in life, good or bad, he learned something that made him stronger, better, wiser, and more appreciative. “It teaches you to have resilience both creatively and emotionally in order to have longevity and consistency,” said Goodwin.
“It’s really not about me, It’s about these other artists.”
It was the support of the people around him and his team that keeps him going, and it is that same energy he wants to give back to the creative community. In Waco, Texas he is opening up a production company where artists can not only work on projects but collaborate. “ I know there are so many people who I know want to create but don’t have the opportunity,” said Goodwin. He just wants to be an option for the next generation of artists. Being a young kid from Brooklyn with no connections in the entertainment industry, he is grateful for what opportunities have been made available to him and wants to pay it forward. Malcolm said, “ I want them to see their dreams fully realized.”
“I wouldn’t be here without people believing in me.”
For Malcolm, this production company, this option he is giving to artists is his way of letting them know that someone believes in them and they are seen. He spoke of times where he shrunk his dreams to fit where he was at in life, instead of pursuing them in their entirety. “ Let me reach for the stars, challenge myself and do what I do best,” said Goodwin. This is what he wants the next generation of artists to have the opportunity to do. His reminder to the artist community is that you just have to go for it and create! Don’t shrink your dreams and ambition to fit your current situation.
