The name Carl Gilliard is becoming a household commodity in America!

You may ask who Carl Gilliard is? Well, it’s my pleasure to introduce him. Carl is a native of Chicago currently residing in Los Angeles, California. He is an actor, director, and producer. You may know him from movies like No Regrets (2016) Deadcon (2019) (Adolescents of Chymera (2021), he has made television appearances Bel-Air (2022) The Family Business (2020-2021) General Hospital (2002) and the list goes on and on. He recently celebrated another accomplishment which is a series called Two Degrees which is a digital series that takes a comical look into the life and dramatic outcome of an actor who’s been on the rise for decades on The Brick TV station.

“I always wanted to be an actor, when I was growing up, I would watch movies for hours and read the movie ads. I just didn’t know how I would do it.” Carl is a godly man and believes that it was fate that has brought him this far. “When something is your destiny, you don’t have to worry how it will come to pass because God will work that out.” Said Carl. Carl admits the entertainment business is tough and he has felt like quitting many times and did but he soon realized that when something is your destiny quitting is not an option.

“Even though I love acting I’m not in this business just for that. I love people. I love being around people and making people laugh.” Growing up Carl was inspired by many people, but it was one name he mentioned that stood out to me and that was Sidney Poitier, one of the world’s leading actors in the 50’s. if you weren’t inspired by him especially if you’re black you must live on another planet. Greatness begets greatness no wonder Carl is becoming a house commodity.

When I asked Carl what his favorite character was to play this is what he said. “I like playing a cop, I get the chance to shoot up everybody.” He laughs. “I said Carl, you like shooting people?” He said, “Only in the movies Gloria! because it’s not real.” I knew he was joking, we were just having fun. That’s the type of spirit he has, warm, and inviting with a great sense of humor.

Carl is extremely busy these days and I was honored that he took the time out of his busy schedule to chat with me. He is in the process of relocating to Atlanta, Georgia.
